Adult Classes & Private Lessons

We have many fantastic group classes for adults at our studio, and we also offer private lessons! Our schedule changes seasonally, roughly 3 times per year, but the quantity and quality of offerings remains consistent. We are closed on major holidays.

Welcome to our new location in Government Hill: 871 E Loop Road. Join us by parking and entering from the back of the building, the Hollywood Shopping Center.

Anyone can come for a drop in class, and we have two membership options at our studio – unlimited or punch card. Unlimited members join for a set duration of time and can attend all adult group classes at our studio, paying monthly. Punch card members purchase a set number of classes with a single payment and can take them within a set time frame. We also have many classes with free trial options available for new students signing up online.

Check out About Us for more information about us, and see our Guest Instructors page for more info on our guest instructors!

Below are descriptions of the classes currently offered at our studio. Bringing a partner is never required in our classes, as we rotate partners in partnering classes, although it is helpful to bring a partner in order to help ensure lead/follow balance.

Fall 2023 Adult Group Classes

Intermediate Salsa Suelta Series with Anaya Latin Dance, Tuesdays 6-7 pm
Salsa without partners! This class develops dancer’s musicality, familiarity with Latin rhythms, movement coordination and rapidity, and choreographic training. Dance experience, preferably Latin dance, as well as good coordination and general fitness is recommended. It is recommended to start with the first class of the month as content rotates monthly (building a routine lasting anywhere from 1-3 minutes) but does not repeat, so this class can be taken on an ongoing basis (new routine each monthly series).

Intermediate Cuban Salsa Partner Work with Anaya Latin Dance, Tuesdays 7-8 pm
This class is for our ongoing students and others with experience with Cuban salsa (casino), working on more complicated casino patterns in partners. Brief social dance to start at the beginning of the class. This class is not part of a series, but movement combinations may be reviewed and repeated when to the benefit of the group.

Intermediate Rueda de Casino, Tuesdays 8-9 pm
This class is for our ongoing students and others with experience with Cuban salsa (casino), working on more complicated casino patterns in partners. Brief social dance to start at the beginning of the class. This class is not part of a series, but movement combinations may be reviewed and repeated when to the benefit of the group.

Beginner Salsa Suelta with Anaya Latin Dance (Ciro), Wednesdays from 7-8 pm
This class is a fast-paced introduction to “Salsa Suelta”, or salsa without partners (shines). We work on the basic salsa steps and body movement coordination as well as movements drawn from other Cuban dances which are integral to a salsero’s vocabulary. Unlike the intermediate class, in the beginner class we do not work on choreographic routines but instead focus on the technique for movements and short movement combinations. This class can be taken on an ongoing basis. Free trial option for new students who sign up online.

Advanced Beginner Cuban Salsa in Partners Series with Anaya Latin Dance, Wednesdays from 8-9 pm
We will learn common Cuban salsa figures, both as couples (partner work) and as a group (rueda de casino). Dancers should have strong timing and already know basic casino steps dile que no, guapea, and enchufla. It is recommended to start on a series start date (first week of month) as content rotates monthly but does not repeat, so this class can be taken on an ongoing basis. Brief guided social dance at the beginning of this class.

Kizomba Series with Edgar and Sheri, Thursdays from 8:15-9:15 pm
Series 1: October 12 – October 26
Series 2: November 30 – December 21
What is kizomba? Kizomba is a dance style that originated in Africa and evolved mainly from semba, but also has aspects of kompa, zouk, and coladeira. The fun thing about kizomba is that even though it is an Afro-based dance, it takes liberties with incorporating Latin stylistic elements, making it an exciting and inviting dance for all! There are 3 main sub-categories of kizomba — traditional, fusion, and urban. In this class, we primarily focus on urban. In this course, we will go over the basics and make sure our students have a strong foundation before beginning more complex moves. Once our students have a strong foundation, we will increase the level of difficulty depending on class comprehension. We look forward to meeting new faces and seeing our students increase their skillsets on the dance floor!
